During the weekend, my dad and I went to Johnson Valley for our last dirt bike ride of the season. Boy was it hot out there! And the trip there and back was soooooo long.
You might be wondering, out of all the pictures we took, 'why such a random pic?' Well, it has a story with it. This area that we found was filled with huge sand dunes and valleys. We tore it up out there in the sand and had a bunch of fun! Hahahaha my dad had to help me two times cuz I drove my bike into the sand and it dug in about three-quarters the way up the tire. By the way, thats me holding my dads bike up.
Anyways my dad started to ride along the crest of the sand dune (seen at right) and I went along the bottom of it. We were going along pretty fast when I looked up to see where my dad was going. (When we trailride, he leads and I follow) At that moment I looked ahead and saw that the dune suddenly dropped. And my dad didn't know about it. He drove right over the drop, but when he landed, the front tire dug into the sand and the bike pretty much stopped instantly. He flew over the handle bars and the bike dropped onto his legs. During that whole thing, it felt like time slowed down. You have no idea what its like to see your own dad go down on a dirt bike that he's been riding for over thirty years. My heart just about stopped.
I immediately raced over to him to see if he was okay and to my amazement he had no broken bones or concussion. That sand literally saved his life. He got away with a sore arm (which he landed on after his 'flight' ) and a super sore leg from the bike being on it.
I had a great last ride but my dad thought otherwise.
